Remedies for Health Problems for the Organic Layer Flock
By Karma Glos
Karma collected information from old books, organic farmers and
on-line resources and brought it together in one wonderful, easy
to use resource. This is not a book that will help you diagnose
what is wrong with your chickens, but will help you prevent
problems and provide solutions once you figure out what is going
on.

"Guidance for Determining Whether

Exempt from Inspection Requirements of the Poultry
Products Inspection Act" The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS)
of the Department of Agriculture (USDA) created this guide to help small
businesses and poultry producers who
slaughter or process poultry for human food to determine whether
the slaughter or processing operations at their businesses are eligible
for exemption from Federal or State inspection. In other words, this
guide is helpful to producers or businesses in determining whether their
slaughter or processing operations require United States Department of
Agriculture or State inspection, as mandated in the Poultry Products
Inspection Act.

Budgeting Tool
How
much does it really cost to raise your broilers? What price on your
eggs will cover costs AND bring in a little to cover the kid's time?
To help discover the answer to these and other questions, the Center
for Integrated Agricultural Systems at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
has developed a budget for new and existing poultry enterprises. An
Excel Spreadsheet that allows you to enter your own numbers will show
changes to the bottom line as inputs change. For more information
and to download the spreadsheet and detailed instructions, go to the
CIAS website.
