Many pastured poultry growers would like to purchase fall chicks or early spring pullets, but availability standard-bred birds can be limited.
Many heritage and standard-bred poultry breeders hatch in the spring and everything fizzles out by late summer. However, there's a market demand for chicks year round, and there's a market demand for pullets in the spring, which means those birds have to hatch in the fall.
Tom will share tips that small-scale breeders can use to extend their hatching season and meet the growing fall chick/spring pullet demand for heritage birds.
