2020 Pre-Conference Courses

The Jacksonville conference will feature two full-day courses taught by a variety of instructors. Instructors will be announced as they are confirmed.  APPPA approaches training differently than you may encounter in other venues. We build the course based on the community's needs, and then we find the people within our membership to teach each segment. 

    Course 1: Profitable Pastured Poultry

    Course will emphasize the fundamentals required to raise healthy and profitable poultry. Broiler, layer, and turkey specific information will be shared.

    Who should attend? Producers who are within the first 2 years of production who have not participated in an intensive training program or more experienced producers who are experiencing higher than normal loss, low feed conversions, and unsatisfactory production results.

    Course 2:  Marketing Essentials for Busy Farmers

    Course will provide a marketing pillar that can be implemented immediately in your farm marketing plan. We'll help you answer your most popular questions - Who do you market to, what do you say, and how do you know your marketing works? 

    Who should attend? 

    Producers who can reliably bring product to market to be sold but who need help building their customer base, connecting with customers, and understanding marketing.

    Choosing a pre-conference course

    When attending in person, you can only choose one course to attend. 

    If you purchase the virtual ticket (during registration), you will a recording of both courses, in addition to other conference content.

    When you registering, you can choose to attend a course on Sunday or bundle Sunday with your main conference registration on Monday/Tuesday. 

    If more than one person from your farm would like to attend a course on Sunday AND the conference, you can register all people for the conference in one registration, but you'll need to individually register the second, third, and fourth attendee for the Sunday courses.

    Lodging and Travel

    In 2020, APPPA is streamlining accommodations and will host the pre-conference and conference programming at the Lexington Hotel & Conference Center in Jacksonville, Florida.

    Lodging Deadline: Book your room by January 1, 2020 to receive the discounted room rate. 

    Guestrooms feature three USB charging ports, WIFI, and large wall mounted 43” HD LCD flat-screen TVs, as well as in-room safes and mini-refrigerators. Guests will feel pampered with our Australian luxury designed Pamona bath amenities and plush towels.

    Airport

    The closest airport is Jacksonville International Airport (JAX).

    Distance from the airport to the conference center is 15 miles and can be traveled by cab, Uber, or rental car. There is no hotel shuttle.
